/"RCPT TO: " and the server replied "550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for user at usersdomain.com". /
It's almost certainly one of the following three problems:
1) The mailserver is configured to not allow relays from the ip address that you're sending from.
2) The mailserver is complaining about the return username, probably since it is a domain that it serves yet it's an unknown user.
To rule out #2, try sending email from your normal mail client/machine (not the server) using the same return address as the frontier DG is using. (If you're using Exchange/Outlook this test may not work, since they do some interesting non smtp things. Outlook Express or any other mailer should work.)
To rule out #1, try sending email from your normal email client, on the frontier server machine using your normal return address. If this works, #1 is not the problem
If you've ruled out 1 and 2:
3) The mailserver expects authenticated smtp.
If this is the case, frontier will not be able to send mail until someone works out the authenticated smtp protocol and codes it into tcp.sendmail.
