One thing that has been on my wishlist for a Frontier server was some kind of self-maintenance and house keeping.

I just saved a copy of my config.root and it boiled down from 122 MB to 16 MB.

I did not have a problem with that huge config.root but one: the nightly backups at our institution consume ca. 300 MB each night. I don't dare to tell my local admin that is doing the backups that perhaps 50-70% of the data he cares to backup is nothing but hot air.

I heard with purged config.root mainResponder also behaves somewhat snappier. If that is the case then this would be another reason to include a little maintenance helper-script with Frontier/Manila that does some housekeeping for the admin.
