Hi Will,

I just tested installing the Swim Fan theme on a test site here and didn't notice any problems with email notifications.

Can you try adding another email address to the notificaiton list of this site (from one of the known addresses receiving notification on the server), then make a new story or edit one and see if that address receives the notification.
