charset conversion between PC and Mac

My frontier-server is on a PC and I want to use a Mac (iBook) for offline
presentations and a little editing. When I use WebEdit for this purpose, all
german characters (e.g. umlauts) are broken. This is not fixed when I send
them back.

I realized that using the verbs latinToMac and macToLatin would do the
trick. But I need help because I am not familiar with usertalk and have very
basic problems. How to deal with callbacks and parameters?

Especially: How can the verbs string.latinToMac(s) (and it's converse
string.macToLatin(s)) be integrated to the checking in and out of webEdit?

What I did on the PC frontier server:
I inserted the verb latinToMac in the table
user:webEditServer:preCheckOut
and
I inserted the verb macToLatin in the table
user:webEditServer:checkIn

On the attempt to checkout a manilaWebsite with my Mac, I received the error
code 4: Can't call latinToMac because there are to many parameters.

Maybe just copying these verbs into the table is not enough. How do I tell
them what to do? Do I have to give parameters?

As a newby I found it remarkably, however, that the error code mentioned the
name of the verb I wanted to apply.
