beginner confusion

I'm starting all over again with Frontier 7.01

I downloaded a fresh install, ran the install wizard...

was taken to my control panel page, but I can't actually run a site at my
root domain:  http://www.threeofus.com/  

It insists on having a 'subdirectory' before it will create and let me
edit a site.

where did I go wrong?

I'm on the digest, so please email me directly with your
admonition/correction.
