[bug] editing long strings

When a question is answered, and it keeps coming up, well -- OK, perhaps you
don't have an axe to grind. If you'd like to help me understand, please do
so, off list. Thanks.

Now if you want us to work with you on this, I have to figure out how to get
Doug to read these emails and get them on a list so they get dealt with and
we have to have a test group that's friendly, not taking cheap shots, so
when there are problems we have an adequate opportunity to deal with them.
