FW: Proxy Serving

Hi Folks:

I posted this to the Manila site, and got some friendly advice to post it
here as well.

After some interesting conversations with the technology folks at my
University it seems we are set to go with my Manila sites. They have set up
a proxy so that folks from outside the University can have access to the
Manila sites I've set up for my students.

A few questions I have that maybe somebody can help me with:

1) If the address changes to say:

 http://www.mycollege.edu/ABC/DEF/mymanilasite

What changes do I have to make to my navigation links in order for them to
find the right pages? Will I run into trouble if I make relative links (as
they stand now in the Prefs:Advanced section?

2) Anything else I should be wary about when operating Manila through a
proxy? (transparent)

The issue has been the following: After setting up the sites running
frontier from my desktop, my students were not being able to access them
from various other locations, inside or outside of campus. Folks from
outside could not get to them. Rather than poking a hole through the campus
firewall, they decided to set up a proxy so that http requests for my sites
would be served without compromising security. But whereas the address for
my sites used to be xxx45-xxxx.mycollege.edu/mysite/ now it stands to change
to a configuration similar to the address in point 1 above. I'm happy that
through a proxy we will be able to have access, but am concerned about any
changes I need to make. Every time I create a new site I will have to give
the address to the technology folks so that they will add them to the proxy
I imagine. Anything else?

Best, and Thanks,

N Cordova
