Updates breaking my Manila site

I have an installation of Frontier 6 on my machine. since it serves our
purposes adequately, I let my subscription lapse, figuring that the
machine should continue working. Well, once in a while, I learn about
stuff that the automated update feature does that breaks the current
functionality. For example, I can no longer open the server admin page -
it gives me the error that this feature requires Frontier 8. Wait a
minute, I used to be able to open the server admin page!

Also, when I try to create new sites, I get this error now:

Sorry! There was an error: There is no folder or object database named
"member.root" in the folder "[my path in here]Frontier 6.2.1\Guest
Databases\www\"

Help? Any ideas how I can get my old working Frontier back again?
Fortunately, my current sites are still being served.
