viewNewsItems

It appears that I must post a news item to the home page to get it to
show up in a {viewNewsItems} macro call.  Is this the case?

 

I've tried to call news items using that macro after creating the item
but not posting to the homepage.  I can never get that item to show up
unless I have first posted it to the homepage.  Am I missing something?
