You are right. boolean object specifiers do not work correctly.
I tried it with Frontier 9 for OS X and QuarkXPress 6 beta.

Another nasty thing is, when i try to watch the result of
   get(document[1].textbox[1].text[1].properties)
in the Lookup-Table, Frontier crashes.
