Bug? viewNewsItems 9.01

As mentioned in another thread, there seems to be an issue with 
viewNewsItems in 9.01.  Following an upgrade, the viewNewsItems macro 
will return "wp text: xxx characters" for each news item that should be 
rendered (e.g., if there is one news item that fits the call, it 
appears once, if there are 5 items, it will appear 5 times. The 
"characters" value will change as news items are added.
