Help! Something has gone south - Where do I learn to drawl?

Ok, it is fall and about half the sites on my server have gone south 
for the winter. ... They cannot be found with their normal address, but 
they can be found if I use the ipNumber.

What gives? Where do I look to repair the problem, it has surfaced in 
the last few days. I restored from one of the backsups and it works for 
a while, then it also goes south.
