A question about setting up templates

This is probably a simple question for someone, but I seem to be missing
something.

I use Frontier to support manila sites that get URLs with the form:

    http://www.domain.edu/sitename/

I'd like to create a template that can be selected when new sites are set up
that includes links to things like the discussion page. So, somehow I need
to get addresses into sites using the templates that look like this:

    For Site#1: http://www.domain.edu/site#1/discuss/

    For Site#2: http://www.domain.edu/site#2/discuss/

It seems like there ought to be a way (in the best of all worlds ;-) to use
some shorthand (e.g. - a macro?) for this, along the lines of <A
HREF="{siteURL}/discuss">discussion</A> or something.

Ideas?
