newsite days on page

What value do you have entered on the News Items prefs page for: "How many
News Items should appear on the home page?"

And do you have the "How many News Items should appear on the home page?"
preference enabled?

I don't believe the setting ont the Appearance prefs page matters when you
have the news items mode enabled.

	Several of the manila sites I run appear to have started to ignore
the 'number of news days that should appear on the home page pref'
	 
	The setting is on the 'appearance' page under prefs.
	 
	Checking the item in the roots (in
[manilasite].["#newsSite"].numNewsDaysToRender) shows the setting as
correct.
	 
	But the number of newsdays rendered on the homepage can go back
months...and this makes loading time very slow.
	 
	In fact, it was the slow loading that led to the discovery.
	 
	Does anyone have a suggestion on what might be going on here?
