Also, it may be the OS that thinks that .html files are always to be opened in IE. If you do Get Info on an html file in the Finder, then you should be able to use the Open With pop-up to change the files to open in Firefox or Safari or whatever browser you want. Then use the Change All button to make all html files open with the selected browser.
