Jim: Excellent question, I'm glad you asked it.

Currently the includeMessage macro does not look up by shortcut name. But this is a useful enough feature that we decided to go ahead and add it in Manila 9.6.

In Manila 9.6, you will be able to use a shortcut name or a relative path (a.k.a. site structure path) to include a message. We've also re-worked the part of the macro that checks for recursive inclusion to allow a message to be included more than once on a page -- we only prevent the recursion, not the multiple inclusion.
