Easy way to delete discussion messages

I know that discussion messages can be deleted one at a time by going  
to discuss menu and indivdual opening a message, delete, confirm delete.

We got a lot of spam on one site that had membership enabled....  
(won't do that again.)

Is there a way to select a number of messages and delete the whole  
lot of them?
