Okay, then it appears that you don't have any callbacks installed.

1. Do you have any custom tools/plugins installed on the server?

2. As a test, can you create that new test Manila site and see if you can reproduce the crashing when posting the news item to the homepage.

3. Also, I would try opening the Frontier application window. Try posting a news item to the homepage (without having it in pending mode) and see if you observe anything in the application window before it crashes.
