You may want to contact your ISP since the mail sending error seems to be related to the SMTP server not responding.

We're getting ready to update the ManilaAkismet plugin so you can review blocked comments, that might help you determine why the comment is being blocked. Even if membership isn't required to post comment, it still goes through the filter.
