Would it help anyone to have a new thumbnailLink macro so you would just need to know the two shortcut names. eg.

{thumbnailLink ("Double Rainbow Small", "Double Rainbow Large")}

It would default to opening the larger picture in the same browser window but with a parameter to open in a popup.
