Lawrence -- YES I like the idea of a thumbnailLink macro. I like that you are thinking of options to open in the existing window or in a popup window.

When appearing in the existing window, will there be an automatic back button rendered? Or could that be an option as well. When appearing in a popup window, could there be a "Close Window" action link option?
