I would normally just say "go into the appropriate table on the server and delete all the discussion messages," but I seem to recall that Manila keeps "next message number" and other properties in other places that would have to be fixed as well.

It would be cool if part of Bill's solution included a manila suite script that would "fix" the message numbers and other properties if you wound up deleting some things manually. (That doesn't solve the Web interface problems, but when I had a site on a bad sector of a hard drive, it would have made cleanup a *lot* easier.)
