Some good thoughts.

I thought the change to the Add Gems page was more sensible an option .. but was concerned if you have 2 options for paths to upload to, then it might be tricky to do the 'available space' check.

A plugin tool sounds promising .. it could then have it's own server level options too I guess.

Are there any specific old web pages or guides about building plugins ?
