New Message: Where does Manila store the path and URL for static Images loaded ?

I notice that inside of the website tables there is a url in place at

#newsSite.gems.prefs.url

It looks to be the location where the system takes/sets the values for the paths of loaded gems

1. Is that correct ?

2. There does not appear to be a similar thing for images ...

Can you confirm that ?

And if so, how is the URL discovered and set appropriately for each loaded image ?
