Depending on how complex the "stuff" is I'd advise you to migrate to David Bayly's AddedValues. (http://addedvalues.org) AV is great and from the little I used metadata before moving on to AV is much more capable. I use it to power my website http://www.curlykoa.com and am very happy with it.

I know David monitors this DG so he might chime in about the metadata docs. Though I'm guessing they are a goner.
