It may sound strange, but that's the way it works right now. RCS needs 
to be able to send you notifications about the person you've subscribed 
to in order to maintain your notification request record.

To make matters worse, Radio doesn't know anything about your particular 
NAT setup, so even if you configure port-forwarding on your router, the 
cloud still won't know how to reach you (because Radio can't tell it 
where to send the requests).

Don't worry about being confused. This stuff is all new, and we're 
exploring the interconnections, finding the sweet spots and working out 
the kinks. It's going to take some time for us to fill in the details, 
in large part because it's confusing stuff.
