Constructing a string that can be coerced to an address is one way to do it, or you can simply construct the address directly:

local ( msgAckListAdr = @pta^.discussionGroup^.messages.[ string.padWithZeros( msgNum, 7 ) ].pluginInfo.metaData.ackList )
