Some help, please

Anyone with some ideas:

1--We're running Frontier 6.2 on an OS X box.  This is kept open from the
root, which is not the best for security.  The only solution we see for this
is to write an application which will keep Frontier open while the root user
is logged off.

Is there another solution?

2--Currently, the only way for us to know if Frontier has crashed is to
check it.  The only other solution we see is to have another machine ping
Frontier continuously and if it's crashed to restart it.

Is there another solution within Frontier to do this?
