Static rendering is not

(I though I had this down.) I created a small new site, no plug-ins on this
site. Pretty much a homepage only deal.
http://newshound.de.siu.edu/classified/

I get an error when I try and render it from the admin page.

Sorry! There was an error: Can¹t evaluate the expression because the name
³renderedUrls² hasn¹t been defined.

Attempts from the "render this page button" return

Sorry! There was an error: Couldn't create the folder "manila:", because
"The folder ³manila:² wasn¹t found."

Render home pages this week, gave no error but on returning to the Admin
page I'm told that "Your site is currently being rendered." which is not
true. I must restart frontier to get the options to return.

Everything is "yes" at
 sitePrefs/default$rendering

Other sites from this server render.

Did I forget to set something?
Am I not holding my tongue correctly?
