Bigger boxes in news items

Is it possible to edit the boxes in the newsitems editing form?
 (I've done this already on regular stories with metadata templates)

We'd like the title box in news items a lot bigger.
(and URL while we're at it.)

It's pretty normal for a head line to be
 "Knight's Inn granted liquor license for entertainment"
Which cuts off somewhere near "..inmen"

Any ideas where I can look to edit this?
