Is there a way to get curl to do the recursive spider? When I looked at the
man page, I didn't see an option for it...was I just blind?

Curl is the replacement for wget (curl is BSD licence, wget is gnu) in OS
X. Try it from the command line.
You can also download wget sources and compile it. You'll need to patch
the headers. Google on "wget os x make" for more info.
