[bug] Static rendering

More to the point, there IS an official fix for static rendering floating 
around but it's not final (and has been like that for years).  I was 
e-mailed it privately a couple of years ago and I can't find it right now, 
unfortunately, but Dr. Matt had some notes on it.

Also, David Bayly's Manila Fixer plug-in might help
