Blank home page, no edit button

One of our sites has had its home page go completely blank and the "Edit
this page" button no longer appears when the owner is logged in as editor.
I've looked at preferences, but sure don't see anything. Any ideas on this
would be most appreciated. No luck searching for a solution.

I do have daily backups. Is there a way to restore a single site?
