New Message: commentLink issues

For some reason the commentLink feature doesn't show up at the bottom of my news articles. I checked the template and everything seems to be in order. It is marked {commentLink} just like the pop-up help window stipulates and I don't think it has been altered by myself or the other editors of my blog. Has the macro been changed or is there any other reason that this should happen?

To compensate I've added the macro {discussLink} to allow users to navigate to the discussion site but I've been getting emails from people asking why they can't see the commentLink or why they can't just post comments in the pop-up window anymore.

I would like it back because it seems to be something my users want so I was just wondering why I'm having this issue.
