David:

Your Magnificent Root (you can use that, lol) does in fact solve the problem, but as you know, it's not without configuration issues: it requires two imported tables, manual configuration, and as Russ McBride posted [1] four months ago, it actually requires modifying Frontier.root. Specifically, system.verbs.builtins.html.data.standardMacros.spamFreeMailto.form uses tcp.sendmail instead of manilaSuite.sendmail.

Apparently, the undocumented page is implemented as a standard non-Manila macro, so since it's not part of Manila, it doesn't call manilaSuite. I think that's a bug these days. The bad news is that I had to modify the system verb, so any future Frontier update may replace it and break my mail handling yet again.

So, let's review:

Manila 9.0.1: $100 per month, payable only in one-year increments, broken and inflexible and undocumented

Bayly.root: $0, payable any way you like, functional and difficult to install (thanks in part to the spamFreeMailto.form macro), documented and understandable

I wouldn't have to figure out how to donate to David if UserLand would buy this stuff from him and fix the problem with it.
