SECOND POSTING! Please Help

How do I delete news items and any discussions that go
with it.  I know this seems like a basic question, but
believe me, there is a problem here.  I am able to
delete the discussion, but a hyperlink remains on my
calendar for that day.  When you then click there, a
message appears that says "this message has been
deleted."  So long story short is that I need to get
rid of news items and all that goes with it.  Thanks, Frank
