I didn't mean to suggest that you'd modified anything or that you're trying to do your own trackback implementation. I think the error is caused by either some invalid auto-discovery RDF in the post you're pinging, or by a bug in system.verbs.apps.trackback.ping. The line I pointed you at is the most likely one that's failing, so if you want to debug, I think that's the best place to start.
