if the mimetype in the image subtable of the picture message in the manila site is wrong; static rendering will just pass the error on, so to speak.

You need to find out why the pictures are set to binary TEXT, you can contact me off list if you want to explore that question.

The reason that the images tables is called images and has to be at the top level is because that's how it was done in the pre-manila websites long ago.
