This issue seems to have been related to to the public RSS Weblogs.Com ping support in Manila. If anyone ever sees this issue, I would verify by disabling the Home Page Updates Notification preference on the Editorial prefs page.

The RSS ping is no longer supported by Weblogs.Com, so in any case this code will probably be disabled in a future update.
