Hi,

Just a request to tweak some logic in the handling of permissions [from the user perspective]

If I set up a news aggregator and want to allow site members [as well as editors] access to the aggregator page, simply as a mini "news" service, I have no way [as far as I know] of removing the "post" action under each news item.

My site is set up so only editors can post stories, yet the aggregator presents an "editorial action" to *ALL* users, regardless of their editorial permission. This sets a "permission trap" by showing them an action they cannot use.

The second part of my request relates to the handling of the error.

If a site member [basic read and discussion group postings] views the Aggregator Page and selects "post", they get the ugly, standard Manila error page, with no template control over look or feel and no navigation.. Many of my users report stopping at this point, when viewing these pages because they feel the site has "crashed" [in their words], often exiting their browsers.

It would be much nicer is this defaulted to the page permission/embargo tools that can be defined by the Managing Editor.

Obviously, my first preference would be to avoid the permission trap in the first place, my second choice would be to handle the error with access to controlled error responses.

Kind regards

Bill
