I've not had a response to this question, so maybe it's not possible.
Last night I set up a folder action that rsync's the static images to the remote server. So instead of saving the static pictures to the remote server directly, the images are saved to the local Manila server file system. The folder action watches the static pictures folder and does an rsync when it sees a change to the static pictures folder. So far it works... but it's not ideal.
Here are the issues:
I set the "URL for static pictures" to be the remote server. The static picture is saved to the local file system and before the rsync has time to complete the remote file transfer, Manila returns the static picture as a broken image. A refresh of the browser loads the picture off the remote server. Is there a way to cause Manila to wait a few seconds before returning the static pictures page? A few seconds would give the rsync time to complete.
The other issue is that folder actions are not recursive, so I had to attach the folder action to each static pictures folder for each manila sit on the local machine. That's not too bad as I don't have many sites on this server-- and it's not really a Manila issue, but an AppleScript/folder action issue.
If anyone knows a better system for rendering static pictures to a remote server, I would love to hear it.
Is there some reason why Manila does not treat static pictures the same as static html rendering using ftp? It would be really nice if static pictures were site specific rather than global and could be rendered to individual ftp servers (using ftp) just as html pages are rendered.
This is a Manila site... http://manila.userland.com/.
