I have the feeling this might not be too hard to achieve and would be great.

We have done several sites now for what I call 'invite-only' membership groups .. (They have members of the organisation who they wish to be able to see 'member only' areas through Manila Access Control).

However, new members cannot just Join. They have to be manually added by editors. New members simply joining up randomly is not desired.

To get around this - I make the Prefs setting for 'Join' the same as the 'Login' page so nobody ever lands on a signup page.

*So suggestion is *

1. setting in Membership prefs to 'make site an invite only membership site' - thus having all the membership stuff working except the member/signup page.

2. Setting in Membership to disable message about 'Join here' (if that is not done automatically in point 1 above)
