I agree, I don't like it when my device (which is not an iphone - although I am also comfortable using an iphone is redirected automaticly from a site that I would rather see as standard.

However, I have noticed that some sites simply do not play well on my device ... so in those cases I'd be glad of the auto redirect.

I appreciate also the old arguments of the downside of filling your website with lots of tricksy stuff .. which tends to reduce compatability with multiple platforms.

I think there is potential for an auto redirect if a website has to be coded in a certain way for regular desktop browsers but does not work well on mobiles.
