Thanks for all the comments. Unfortunately, I am but a pion to corporate IT.
A mere scientist who should just stay out of information management and the
development of useful things!

Moving on, I'm sure that IT has chosen to upgrade and support only Internet
Explorer (which is still at version 5.5, globally).
