Right there on the Preferences Server Settings page includes this note of caution: (color added for emphasis)
*Debugging*
"The settings on this page are for people who develop web applications in the Frontier environment. The debugging features help find problems with your code, and to isolate performance bottlenecks.
Note that enabling these features can degrade server performance, and cause Frontier to use more memory and disk space than normal, so you should only enable them if needed."
After Debugging was turned off, and the config.root was compacted, the server speeded up! Oh what a difference.
These settings can be changed from the web interface of your server
.. yourserver:5336 -> Preferences > Server or ... yourserver/controlPanel -> General
