1) You can configure Terminal Services to not automatically log you off which should resolve the issue:

Manila currently doesn't run as a service, so you would need to launch the application at startup.

2) The sign in box is administered through the browser interface by going to the Advanced preferences page. Some documentation will refer to the underlying database addresses, but in most cases it's just for reference or for Manila developers.
