I don't know of anyone using or having any documentation to use the TLS.root for SMTP.

I'm not sure if the sendmail suite already uses a tcp.sendmail callback or not. But you could set one up and modify the line:

stream = tcp.openStream (host, 25)

to change the SMTP port.
